Pool Noodle Gutter for AC Condensation

If you have been camping and find yourself battling AC condensation, this is for you!  That water running down the side of your canvas from your AC can be annoying and messy.  But you can remedy this problem with pool noodles.  Yes.  You read right.



Rooftop condensation is common where there is a significant difference between the interior camper temperature and outside temperature.  Both hot and cold weather can produce this condensation depending on how much you regulate the temperature inside. 

First, you can combat condensation by regulating the temperature indoors.  Adjust your temperature settings where there isn't a drastic difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures.  Second, turn off your unit if you are not in your camper.  This saves electricity and is better for the environment.

But what about those times when you need the temperature to be just right?  Construct little foam gutters from pool noodles.  For our 8 foot box, I needed 1 1/2 pool noodles per end.  Use a pair of scissors and slice into one side of the noodle creating an opening all of the way down.

When you are setting up, crank up the camper a little way.  Slip the pool noodle opening around the edge of the roof.  Place your noodles on each side.  Then finish cranking up and setting up as you normally would.  Presto.  Your condensation will now drain into the gutters and off the side controlling the flow of moisture.

I needed 1 1/2 pool noodles to stretch the length of my 8-foot box.

This is an inexpensive solution to a common problem.  This hack is lightweight and takes little space.  The pool noodles fit up close to the roof and are not overly obtrusive.  You can choose whatever color you like.  I selected this orange color because it coordinates with my decor.  (Sorry, but I had to!)
