Out of The Box Camping Review - Winter 2019

The Out of the Box Camping box for this winter had a boondocking theme.

Out of the Box Camping is a quarterly subscription box for campers and RV enthusiasts.  Subscribers receive a curated box of items based on a theme.  Boondocking is the theme for the 2019 winter box.  So what was in this season's box?

OOTBC (Out of the Box Camping) surprises subscribers each time with new and interesting items that can be used for camping.  But, there are also items that could be used at home or other outdoor activities.  You could also gift items that might not appeal to you or are duplicates of something that you already have.

The collapsible water container is just right for boon dockers and hikers.

Collapsible Water Container - approximately $7.99

I was not able to find the exact bottle that came in the box.  However, this is a 5-liter collapsible water container that is BPA free.  This is the perfect accessory for anyone camping without hookups.  Tent campers, RV owners, backpackers, and hikers could all use this product.  We actually have a couple of larger collapsible bottles that we prefer.  Smart Bottles by Wolverine is the brand that we have used and love.  I have reviewed these on my blog before and love the double wall design.  However, anyone that is boondocking or thinking about boondocking could use these, and this bottle is a good starter.

This quick-drying, micro-fiber towel from Snappy Towel is a new find that I can't wait to try.

Snappy Towel - $12.95
These little microfiber towels dry quickly and would work well for someone that is camping remotely.  Snappy Towel makes lots of sizes of towels for many different purposes.  I love that these have actual snaps on them to attach to something or around the body or neck.  The one in the box is the smaller fitness towel.  I love the portable size and design.  If you don't have quick-drying towels, this could be a great investment.  I am interested in the beach towels because they would not take so long to dry in humid weather.

We love Luci Lights at our house.  This is a great addition to our camping gear.

Luci Light Emergency Inflatable Solar Light - approximately $12.69
MPOWERD makes portable and sustainable solar lights.  These inflatable lights work well and are durable.  We have one that is 2 years old and still works perfectly.  The Emergency Inflatable Solar Light has 5 settings.  You can have a cool white high and low setting, flashing, SOS and steady red.  It will last 7 hours on one charge.  These can be used in an emergency kit, in tents, at the campground for extra light and more.  I was excited to get a second Luci light in my box.

Dry shampoo is a staple for me on the road.  I love this brand!

Clean Freak Dry Shampoo Travel Size - approximately $6.14
I'm the queen of dry shampoo.  I keep it in our RV, in my suitcase for work and at home.  It is a lifesaver.  If you are on the road and can't wash your hair, this product works wonders.  Clean Freak is actually a brand that I like.

I'm easily one of the messiest persons I know.  These are perfect for me!

Road Spill On The Go Travel Stain Removal - approximately $3.84

I'm not going to lie.  I'm super messy.  My sister refuses to eat out with me in a white shirt.  I am embarrassed to admit that, but this product is probably made for me or at least people like me!  Therefore this is a score just because I can't have enough products like this in my life.

Who doesn't need a waterproof phone case, hair bands, and koozie?  I mean, this is just right for anyone, and you could gift this if you already have these items!

The next three items were purchased from About Face Designs.  I could not find the exact items and prices.  But based on similar items, I have given an approximate price.

Waterproof Phone Protector - approximately $8.49
If you are doing any outdoor activities that include water, a waterproof phone protector is necessary.  This little case has a lanyard so that you can wear it around your neck.  Even if you are hiking in a wet area like the Pacific Northwest, you would keep your phone out for photos while keeping it bone dry.

Camp Hair Don't Care Elastic Hair Tie - approximately $1.50
I love hairbands!  I use them all of the time.  At a minimum, this is how I keep my hair tied up at night while sleeping.  This is a practical item, but I can't really give a value or dollar amount to it.  I do like the color and camping theme!

Weekend Warrior Can Koozie - approximately $3.00
I know people who travel with a can koozie in their purse.  I mean they are on the ready all the time.  This little "Weekend Warrior" stamped one will be a new staple in our RV for trips.  Any cold beverage will fit into these, and it's just fun.  Plus, this one is not so girly that my husband would not want to use it!

This box came with two coupons.  The first one is from Naked Wines.  It is for $100 off of a case of wine.  I have always said that the coupons in any subscription box really add to the value of the box itself.  If you aren't using the coupons, you are missing out.  At first, I was disappointed over this coupon.  Naked Wines doesn't ship to Mississippi.  However, you can have a case delivered to someone in another state.  This is just what I did.  Subscription boxes are all about discovering new products and services.  Naked Wines works with winemakers to help fund their production upfront from backers that participate in Naked Wines.  Its a really cool service that funds the dream of winemakers.  And, it helps gets smaller wine maker's products out to the buyer.  I can update this post at a later time about the wine quality.

Complete RV Travel Planner Coupon Code -approximately $7.20 depending on the planner
This is a travel planner that you can use on the road to keep track of campground reservations and information.  I know that paper planners may seem outdated.  But, travel to remote locations can leave you struggling to use cloud-based applications where you have that information stored.  We are planning a trip to Glacier National Park this year.  And, I already know that cell and wifi service is limited.  I can certainly use this planner on this trip.  I have already ordered mine.

The value of this box was kind of low compared to previous boxes that I have gotten.  I also like the box because it has practical items in it.  Without the coupons, the value is around $55.  With the coupons, the value really increases.  The coupons add over $100 value to the box!  I would value the box at about $162 with the coupons included.

I had mixed feelings about this box initially, but overall this is another good score from Out of the Box Camping.  If you are interested in trying this box, use the code GLAMPER5 to get $5 off.  I'll update readers on the spring theme soon.  But, I'm sure you can still order this box if you would like to give it a try.

Until next time...

    1. So very sorry for your loss. I know that makes the holidays so hard. We also looked at the Flagstaff e-Pro line before purchasing our RV. I hope you will enjoy your first camping adventure of 2020. We hope to head out in January for a quick weekend getaway. I'm finally on the mend and heading to the gym today. Best wishes in 2020! And, thank you for following along!
